MHA’s Current Public Policy Goals
and Objectives
On behalf of all
Michigan hospitals and health systems, the MHA Board of Trustees has
approved a number of public policy goals and objectives. The MHA and
its members are working with a broad and diverse number of people
and organizations to achieve these goals, including physician
groups, employers, chambers of commerce and other health advocacy
organizations.
Short-Term
State Advocacy Goal
Maximize state funding for Michigan
hospitals/health systems and their patients, and minimize additional
budget cuts before the start of the state budget for Fiscal Year
2009 (which starts Oct. 1, 2008).
Short-Term
Objectives
1. Secure Medicaid funding for Michigan hospitals and health systems in the current year’s state budget.
2. Fight the
