MHA’s Current Public Policy Goals and
Objectives
On behalf of all Michigan hospitals and health systems, the MHA
Board of Trustees has approved a number of public policy goals and
objectives. The MHA and its members are working with a broad and
diverse number of people and organizations to achieve these goals,
including physician groups, employers, chambers of commerce and
other health advocacy organizations.
Short-Term Federal Advocacy Goal
Maximize federal funding for Michigan
hospitals/health systems and their patients, and minimize additional
budget cuts before the start of the federal budget for
Fiscal Year 2009 (which starts
Jan. 1, 2009).
Short-Term Objectives
1.
Ensure fair and adequate Medicare payment for Michigan's hospitals
and health systems in the current budget cycle.
2. Ensure fair and adequate Medicaid payment for Michigan's
hospitals and health systems in the current budget cycle.
Long-Term Federal Advocacy Goal
Long-Term Objectives
1. Advocate for health care liability
reform.
2. Work to address health care
workforce shortage issues.
